BACKGROUND INFORMATION: SAVES UP TO $250 MILLION OVER 10 YEARS
The National Science Foundation annually awards up to $25 million to academic researchers seeking to study conditions in the Arctic. Funded research can be for direct observation of the Arctic environment, studying the sociology, economy or political science of the Arctic, or other academic disciplines. Up to 75 grant awards are made annually.
