It’s been 782 days since Senate Democrats passed a budget. Yet, on Friday, Senator Reid griped about the frequency of the Biden-led deficit discussions. With the breakneck pace the Senate has been keeping this year and the failure to produce a budget, where has Senator Reid been for the past 782 days?
- Senator Reid: "I have one big complaint, and that is, they shouldn't be taking breaks. They should be meeting every week, multiple times each week. And all these congressional recesses, that should have no bearing," Reid said in an interview with Jim Lehrer, which airs in full on Friday's News Hour broadcast. "We must reduce our debt. We must increase the debt limit. And there's no vacation during this time. We've got to move forward." (PBS’ The NewsHour, 6/17/11)
