Today, Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi said “there’s no better way to reduce the deficit than by creating jobs.” Then Leader Pelosi continued to push for tax increases on the very people she expects to create jobs. Leader Pelosi, you can’t have it both ways.
- Pelosi: Raising Taxes Must Be Considered In A “Very Strong Way.” “If we are serious, as our caucus is about reducing the deficit, we have to go in there recognizing that some cuts will have to be made, that you can't accomplish what you set out to do without considering revenues in a very strong way ...” (Press Conference, 8/2/11)
- Pelosi Even Said She Wished Harry Reid’s Bill Would Have Raised Taxes: “I wish that we had revenues in there...” (Floor Speech, 7/30/11)
- Pelosi Has Also Declared That Democrats Will Fight To Raise Taxes On Job Creators. “... I don't even know where the trillion dollars in cuts he's talking about is coming from. But the fact is, is that you cannot cut yourself to balance. You have to have revenue on the table. And that is the fight we'll make.” (MSNBC’s The Last Word, 6/23/11)
