Mayors Throw Support Behind Repatriation

A key proposal in the House Republican’s robust jobs plan would allow American companies to bring overseas profits back to home to boost economic growth and help put Americans back to work. On Friday, the U.S. Conference of Mayors released their jobs agenda, and they agree, repatriation will allow American businesses to begin creating more jobs in this country.

The Mayors Write:

“Given our current fiscal crisis, initiatives to create jobs must move forward hand-in-hand with efforts to reduce federal budget deficits in the long term, with the goal of increasing confidence in the federal government and the U.S. economy.”
 

• Repatriating offshore corporate profits, estimated at $1.5 trillion, would result in U.S. dollars returning to U.S. soil where they can be used for job creation while generating federal revenue.
