H.R. 6082, Final Vote: 253-170Working families and businesses should not have to wait any longer for the President to secure our energy future.

In a 253-170 vote, the House passed H.R. 6082, the Congressional Replacement of President Obama's Energy-Restricting and Job-Limiting Offshore Drilling Plan.

Upon passage, Majority Leader Cantor made the following comments:

"Today, the House acted to replace the Obama Administration's five-year offshore drilling plan that sidelines American energy and jobs. Despite bipartisan support for expanding domestic energy production, the President’s offshore drilling plan excludes 85 percent of our energy-rich areas, including Virginia’s offshore energy opportunities."

Below is the complete text of Majority Leader Cantor's comments:

"Today, the House acted to replace the Obama Administration’s five-year offshore drilling plan that sidelines American energy and jobs. Despite bipartisan support for expanding domestic energy production, the President’s offshore drilling plan excludes 85 percent of our energy-rich areas, including Virginia’s offshore energy opportunities."

"Working families and small businesses should come first. They shouldn’t have to wait any longer for the President to embrace a national energy policy to secure our energy future. While President Obama has said no to thousands of new Virginia jobs, even threatening to veto this bill, a bipartisan majority of the House has said yes to opening our coasts to safe oil and natural gas production that will help bring down energy costs, increase energy production here at home and drive job creation in Virginia."
