House Majority Leader Eric Cantor released the following statement after the House passed a continuing resolution to keep the government open and stop ObamaCare:
“House Republicans voted tonight to keep the government open and give working middle class Americans the same one-year delay from ObamaCare that the President has already unilaterally given big businesses and special interest groups. The House also voted to repeal the medical device tax which ships jobs overseas and increases health care costs. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has labeled the tax ‘stupid’ and 79 Senators, led by Democrats Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar, voted to repeal it in March. Democrats have often joined Republicans against this tax and in favor of delaying Obamacare.
“It’s time for President Obama to rise above stubborn partisanship and give working middle class Americans the same breaks he is giving corporate CEOs. There is ample time for the Senate to pass, and for the President to sign, a bill that keeps the government open and offers this basic fairness for all. I call on them to not shut down the government in order to protect a law that is costing folks much-needed jobs and money.”
