House Majority Leader Eric Cantor today released the following statement on the latest unemployment report:
"America isn't working when people can't find a good paying job. House Republicans are focused on helping those who are unemployed find jobs, and also focused on protecting working middle class families from Administration policies which reduce their hours and wages. Investors Business Daily reported this week that all of the net new low-wage jobs added in 2013 fell below ObamaCare's 30-hour threshold and 30 million workers clocked the shortest average workweek on record, just over 27 hours a week. This is unacceptable.
"Hard working Americans shouldn't have to accept this new normal of reduced hours and wages caused by ObamaCare. Cutting hours and wages by as much as 25% is just one of the many reasons ObamaCare is hurting those looking for work. It's time to admit this law has failed and stop the harm it is causing innocent people just trying to get by and earn a decent paycheck. House Republicans will continue fighting for these working middle class families in order to build an America that works."
