Leader Cantor On Chairman Dave Camp's Decision Not To Seek Reelection

Posted by Nick Marcelli on

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor released the following statement after Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) announced that he will not seek re-election

"While I know Michiganders are excited to welcome him back home, Chairman Dave Camp's leadership, integrity and intellect will be missed in the Capitol. Dave has been a valued friend and trusted colleague. Dave has always been a principled conservative proposing alternatives and ideas to help working middle class families. When President Obama proposed his stimulus, Dave offered a better way to help the economy, put money back in the pockets of hardworking Americans and grow jobs. When Democrats offered up ObamaCare, Dave was proposing better ideas to lower health care costs and provide greater access. When hardworking families struggled to navigate the broken tax code, it was Dave leading the charge to reform our tax system to grow jobs, strengthen our economy and help people keep more of their hard earned money.

"When Dave was fighting, and ultimately beating, cancer, he was such a tremendous inspiration to all of his colleagues on both sides of the aisle. He kept serving his constituents even as he faced the largest personal battle of his life. I wish Dave well in his future pursuits, and I know that he will continue to make his family, his district and the entire state of Michigan proud."
