WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) today issued the following statement in response to the announcement that Northrop Grumman is moving its headquarters to Virginia:
“Despite the serious economic challenges we face as a Commonwealth and a country, Virginia is still open for business. The decision of Northrop Grumman to move their headquarters to Virginia is a positive reflection of the pro-business environment and quality of life in our Commonwealth that remains highly attractive to families, business people, and young workers. Bringing more jobs to Virginia, this move will help spur economic growth, create opportunity for future generations, and grow Virginia’s economy.
“Still there is much more work that needs to be done to put our country on the path to long-term financial and economic stability. We must focus on common sense solutions that produce real results. This means creating private sector job growth and encouraging economic incentives that produce return on investment. We must also limit spending, cut taxes, and reduce regulations on businesses small and large to help them hire more workers.
“Working closely with Governor McDonnell, we made a strong and compelling case and I welcome Northrop Grumman to Virginia. Moving forward, we must continue to recruit additional employers and help more Virginians get back to work. With the Republican’s no-cost jobs plan and a pro-growth strategy we will continue to empower American employers and Virginia-based businesses to create sustainable job growth and secure the economic future of our Commonwealth.”
