Washington, D.C. – On the first day of February, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) issued the following statement in honor of Black History Month:
“Black History Month serves as a stark and meaningful reminder of the sacrifices and hardships endured by African Americans throughout history, and their incredible strength and culture that has helped to shape our country. The designation of this month encourages school children to study these important chapters of history and gives us an opportunity to celebrate notable black Americans. Most importantly, it allows us to step back and reflect on the fact that our country has overcome much adversity and is closer to being a more equal and great nation, while honoring the path that brought us together.”
