WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement on President Obama missing the legal deadline to send his budget request to Congress for Fiscal Year 2014:
“This week, the House will require the President to put forward his plan to balance the budget. There is no excuse for having missed the mark four times in the past five years. Even the budget he eventually submitted last year never achieved balance. We need to get spending under control. Every month hard working families and business owners have to balance their budgets. The same should be true for the federal government.
"We cannot free future generations from mountains of debt, nor achieve true economic recovery, if we continue on the same wasteful spending path in Washington. House Republicans will continue to offer leadership and produce a budget that reflects our priorities to grow the economy, expand opportunity and make life work for more families. It’s time for President Obama to finally join us in these efforts.”
