Leader Cantor: There Remains Work To Be Done Helping Folks Find A Job

Posted on

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement on the national unemployment report for May:

“Every first Friday of the month we are again reminded there remains work to be done helping folks find a job. I'm happy for those who found a job this month but remain disappointed with the slow growth. In America we have higher expectations and we can do better. House Republicans remain committed to helping working families across our nation improve their prospects of getting a good education, a good job and a healthy life, and our work this Congress reflects that. Recently, the House passed the SKILLS Act to provide people with the skills and training they need to compete for unfilled jobs. In May, we passed a bill to move forward with the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would bring immediate jobs and economic growth, yet remains unnecessarily stalled by this Administration. I would hope that President Obama join us, and begin to focus on economic growth with the same intensity as House Republicans.”
