Leader Cantor Announces Staff Updates For Leadership Office

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) announced the following staff updates for the Office of the Majority Leader:

Katie Patru, Director of Member Services: Katie will work directly with Members and their staff as the new Director of Member Services. Katie most recently worked as the Director of Member Services and Events for the House Republican Conference, serving five consecutive Conference Chairs since 2005. An experienced Member services and special events professional, she has longtime working relationships with hundreds of GOP Chiefs of Staff, schedulers, communicators and district staff. Kate was named to Roll Call's 2013 Fabulous 50 list of Capitol Hill’s leading staffers.

Connor Walsh, Digital Director: Connor previously served as Deputy Director of Digital Media in the 112th Congress. He has extensive knowledge of digital platforms and strategy with a focus on modernizing the way Congress interacts directly with the public. His previous experience includes advising Members, candidates and non-profit organizations on effective use of digital and traditional media. Connor is a graduate of The George Washington University.

Nick Marcelli, Deputy Digital Director: Nick is joining the team as Deputy Digital Director. Previously, Nick worked for the National Republican Congressional Committee as Digital Coordinator during the 112th Congress and as Digital Press Secretary during the 113th Congress. Nick is a graduate of American University.

Gena Villari, Deputy Press Secretary: Gena joins the team from fellow Virginia Congressman Robert Hurt’s (VA-5) office. While working for Rep. Hurt, Gena served as Communications Director and prior to that Deputy Press Secretary. While in Hurt’s office, Gena served as the official spokesperson for the office, directed website redesign, and developed strategy for both digital and traditional communications. Previously, she worked on Senator Kelly Ayotte’s 2010 campaign and Congressman Hurt’s 2012 campaign. Gena is a graduate of Furman University.

John Stapleton, Speechwriter: John joins the team having most recently served on the Romney-Ryan Victory Campaign in Virginia. Originally from New Jersey, John has worked on many campaigns throughout the Mid-Atlantic and has written for several conservative publications. He has two Political Science degrees from American University and enjoys spending time with his wife Nealey and dog, Brisket.

Tim Pataki, Floor Assistant: During the 112th and beginning of the 113th Congress, Tim worked for the Office of the Majority Whip most recently as the Special Assistant to the Chief Deputy Whip. Tim is a graduate of The Ohio State University.

Molly Edwards, Staff Assistant: Molly will serve as one of two staff assistants in the Majority Leader’s Office. Molly will be responsible for managing day to day operations and various administrative tasks. Prior to joining the office, Molly served as the office manager for the Romney for President Virginia headquarters and completed two congressional internships. She graduated with a B.A. in political science from the University of North Carolina in May 2012.

Lawson Kluttz, Staff Assistant: Lawson previously interned for Congressman Howard Coble and worked for The First Tee of the Triad in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Lawson graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2012, where he studied international Relations and political science.
