Leader Cantor: The President Left The American People Out In The Cold

Posted on

"The President’s actions on ObamaCare last week were stunning. I never thought I’d see the day where the White House and the President came down on the side of big business, but left the American people out in the cold as far as this health care mandate is concerned. We as House Republicans are not going to sit still for that.

“We think strongly that the President’s actions were unfair. That we ought to also remove this mandate from the individuals. Because it’s just not fair to sit here and impose on the people of this country this mandate while letting businesses off free. We strongly agree that this law can’t be implemented at this time. But I think we have an even stronger disagreement with this President that a time delay is going to fix the fundamental flaws of this law. We’re for a permanent delay of this law.

“But as the President took this action – and the unfairness that it dealt to the American people – the House will respond this month to correct that injustice.

"All of this I think really goes to the point that the public is feeling a growing sense of distrust of what this Administration and of what Washington is doing. That is why we in the House this month will be taking up a package of bills to stop the government abuse and to put the American people first. We should be about empowering the American people, we should be about holding bureaucrats in Washington accountable, because this town is supposed to work for the people and not the other way around.

"Our mission as House Republicans is to restore the trust in government while we’re working to restore the faith in our economy so people can get back to work and there’s a brighter future ahead.”
