Leader Cantor Applauds Passage Of Energy Consumers Relief Act

Posted on

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 1582, the Energy Consumers Relief Act of 2013:

“President Obama’s EPA rules and regulations cost small businesses and families hard earned money, adding up to billions of dollars every year. Handed down by unelected bureaucrats that are unaccountable to the American people, these rules continue to dig deeper into people’s pockets and stifle job creation. House Republicans remain committed to preventing more expensive red tape and standing up for consumers and American families. Under the Energy Consumers Relief Act, the EPA will be required to submit to Congress economic impact information on proposed billion-dollar rules that will drive up energy prices and hurt jobs. Additionally, the Secretary of Energy is required to conduct a review to determine whether there would be any significant adverse effects to the economy. Families and small businesses across this country have to review the costs and benefits of their decisions every day, it is not too much to ask for our government to do the same.”
