Leader Cantor Congratulates Louisa County Public Schools

Posted on

LOUISA, VA - Today, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) toured Thomas Jefferson Elementary School's temporary classrooms with Superintendent Dr. Deborah Pettit and congratulated Louisa County Public Schools on the ground breaking of the new Louisa County High School:

“Today is a great day for Louisa. Nearly two years after an unexpected earthquake rocked Louisa County, it is time to rebuild. The day after the earthquake, I had a chance to visit Louisa County High School with Superintendent Dr. Deborah Pettit to survey the damage. Earlier this year, I again visited campus to hear from students about the school’s significant progress, even without a building. This morning, I toured Thomas Jefferson Elementary School’s temporary units and read with a group of impressive fourth graders. Despite changes in schedules and temporary classrooms, student achievement remains high. The dedicated Louisa County Public Schools staff has worked tirelessly over the past two years to get these schools back up and running. We should all be proud of the way the teachers, parents, and students came together during this difficult time. I want to congratulate Louisa County Public Schools on the ground breaking of the new high school, and commend them for their ongoing strength and determination as the community continues to rebuild.”
