Leader Cantor: ObamaCare Will Never Be Ready For Prime Time

Posted on

“I too anticipate and look forward to hearing what the President has to say to the people of this country who have yet to understand what the position of the Administration is and how we are going to implement his plan of action. It is a very serious matter, one of life and death, one that I’ve taken a position on as a student of the region and think that this is really a vote of conscience for everyone. But it is important for us to hear what the President has to say. He has to make the case to the American people, as far as Syria – and action in Syria – is concerned.

“As far as our activity on the floor this week, there is clearly an indication across the country – as I have traveled at home in my district in Richmond – that more and more people are finding themselves in part-time employment. More and more people are struggling because they don’t know where the price of their health care is going. All because ObamaCare is about to become fully implemented. We’re trying to do everything we can to stave that possibility off. The President himself has admitted this law is flawed and therefore not ready for prime time in his view. I don’t believe it will ever be ready for prime time.

“This week, we’re going to bring up a bill that speaks to the fact that what the President has done at this point, by waiving the employer mandate, but leaving in place the law – he’s now said that there’s an open check book by the government. That people can just go and get a subsidy no matter what their income is. Representative Diane Black’s bill says we need to have some verification, it’s about accountability. This law is not ready for prime time and will never be.

“We will also have a vote on the Continuing Resolution this week. Along with that vote, we will send to the Senate the provision which says, up or down, are you for defunding ObamaCare or not? The House has taken a stand numerous times on its opinion of ObamaCare. It’s time for the Senate to stand up and tell their constituents where they stand on this atrocity of a law.”
