Leader Cantor: "The Do-Nothing Senate Must Do Better"

Posted on

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today released the following statement on the latest jobs numbers:

"Senate Democrats have ignored dozens of jobs bills this past year, and working middle class families deserve better. Based on today's disappointing report, it is quite evident that job creation must be a higher priority in the Senate. It is unconscionable that Senate Democrats continue to let House-passed job and training bills collect dust while so many Americans remain out of work. Over the past year, the Senate has ignored over 160 House-passed bills, many of which passed with broad bipartisan support.

"House Republicans have passed bills to improve skills training for the long-term unemployed and reduce federal regulations that restrain job growth. President Obama and Majority Leader Reid would like America to settle for the new normal, rather than work with House Republicans to produce jobs and growth. The do-nothing Senate must do better. Helping people find a job and independence should be our top priority."
