WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) today issued the following statement on the third anniversary of the Virginia Tech tragedy:

“Today, my thoughts and prayers are with the Virginia Tech community as we remember the families of those killed and wounded, and honor those who survived the horrible tragedy. Thirty-two innocent students and faculty lost their lives that day, including two Virginians from the 7th District. While three years have passed, people are still affected. It is a constant reminder of the world we live in and that we must pay attention to warning signs and deal with legitimate security concerns on our country's campuses appropriately.

“I commend the resilience of the entire Tech community. Day after day, year after year, they have demonstrated an enduring courage and compassion to regroup, recover, and reflect on the magnitude of what happened and the terrible loss of so many promising young lives. On this day of remembrance, the people of the Commonwealth continue to stand together to commemorate the spirit and strength of Virginia Tech.”‪‪‪
