WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement:

“This afternoon I spoke to Speaker Boehner and supported his efforts to get Leader Reid to improve the short-term payroll tax extension for employers and small businesses. For months we've made clear that no one wants to see taxes go up on working families and middle-class Americans and this deal ensures that won't happen next year. I am hopeful that in January, the two sides will work together in a bipartisan manner to achieve a year-long package that provides the needed certainty to doctors, employers and hard working taxpayers - and also helps boost economic growth and job creation. Washington needs to start making incremental steps and delivering results for hard working taxpayers."
