WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement on the Congressional Budget Office projection that the deficit will exceed $1 trillion for the fourth consecutive year in a row:

“The latest CBO report shows trillion dollar deficits for the fourth consecutive year and increased unemployment over the coming years. We know that President Obama’s policies have failed to produce the economic growth needed to pay down these massive deficits that are creating uncertainty, preventing economic recovery, and harming job creation. When something doesn’t work, you change it. Let’s try something new.

“After years of stagnation, we need bold, pro-growth policies to spur real economic growth and boost the job engines in this country – our nation’s small businesses. By putting in place common-sense policies to help small businesses succeed, we will get more people back to work, generate long-term economic growth and finally begin to get our fiscal house in order.”
