WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today issued the following statement on the retirement of House Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier (R-CA):

“For the past 32 years, Chairman David Dreier has provided principled, conservative leadership and represented the people of California with distinction. Chairman Dreier has been a statesman-like figure in the House, committed to spreading free-market economic policies and advancing democratic principles. In his leadership of the Rules Committee, he has offered a wealth of institutional knowledge and deep-rooted understanding of the House of Representatives. Throughout his time in Congress, he has been constantly mindful of the reason we all are sent here: to serve the people of this country. I thank Chairman Dreier for his extraordinary service and wish him the best as he moves forward.”
