WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement after the announcement that John Sullivan, the Parliamentarian of the House, will retire next month. Tom Wickham, who has served as Deputy Parliamentarian of the House since 2005, has been appointed to succeed Sullivan.

“Today, I would like to recognize John Sullivan and his 25 years of service to the House of Representatives, its members, and his country. John’s exemplary service as House Parliamentarian was marked by professionalism and fairness, which he demonstrated with his leadership through three separate House Majorities. His successor, Tom Wickham, brings a wealth of knowledge and capability required of the House Parliamentarian, and I look forward to working with him in his new role.”
