WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement on the Interest Rate Reduction Act, H.R. 4628, to keep student loan rates affordable:

“The House is committed to making sure student loan rates remain affordable, especially with rising tuition costs and college graduates facing an uphill climb in the job market. Rather than letting student loans become a pawn in the latest political fight, the House will show our commitment to our nation’s students and extend the current rates without adding a dime to the deficit. We must ensure that young people have the opportunity to go to college, receive a quality education, work hard and earn their success. I look forward to bipartisan vote in support of this common-sense measure to help college students and recent graduates.”
