WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement in response to the Obama Administration's report required by the Sequestration Transparency Act:

"Today’s report is yet another reminder that the sequester scheduled for January 2nd threatens our national security at a time when global stability remains in question. The events of the past week, brought on in part by this Administration’s misguided foreign policy, have only demonstrated this volatility for which we must remain prepared. The House acted 127 days ago to responsibly replace these crippling defense cuts and protect jobs.

"That the President would cite his budget that failed to pay down the historic debt and deficit that he helped create, and that received not a single vote in either the House or the Senate, as his solution to the sequester demonstrates that his plan is not based in reality. Just this week, the House acted again to address this dangerous threat to our nation. It remains incumbent on President Obama and Senate Democrats to take serious action to prevent these arbitrary, devastating cuts from taking place."
