WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) applauded Congressmen Gregg Harper (R-MS) and Tom Cole (R-OK) for introducing H.R. 1724, the Kids First Research Act. This legislation will eliminate federal funding for presidential campaigns and party conventions and expand pediatric research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH):

“Now more than ever our priority should be medical breakthroughs that help children who are suffering from diseases and disorders like cancer and autism. Today, Congressmen Gregg Harper and Tom Cole introduced the Kids First Research Act to prioritize federal funding for pediatric research at the National Institutes of Health. We should stop wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on political campaigns and conventions, when these resources would be better spent discovering knowledge about diseases and disorders to develop cures. The Kids First Research Act will expand these efforts and promote medical innovations aimed at improving the quality of life and finding cures for so many children and their families.”
