WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) today released the following statement after the House approved with bipartisan support H.R. 2218, the Coal Residuals Reuse And Management Act:

“President Obama's EPA has proposed overly burdensome mandates on coal that will put more Americans out of work and raise electricity rates. Just recently, a senior advisor to the President said that, ‘a war on coal is exactly what’s needed.’ As the Administration continues to wage its war on coal, the House is focused on providing affordable energy and preserving jobs for American families. Today, we voted with bipartisan support to eliminate costly federal mandates, allow states flexibility in regulating coal ash, and ensure we protect both jobs and our environment. I urge the Senate to join us in our bipartisan effort to preserve and create jobs and ensure affordable electricity for working families in Virginia and across our country.”
