WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement applauding the Supreme Court’s ruling today that upheld the right of those in Greece, N.Y. to practice public prayer before town board meetings:

“Today’s decision by the Supreme Court to uphold individuals’ right to participate in public prayer is a victory for Americans of all faiths and beliefs. Freedom of religion is a central cornerstone upon which our republic was founded and it is critical that America remains a nation dedicated to supporting this fundamental right. I applaud the Supreme Court’s decision today as one that upholds our founding principles and continues the religious tolerance and moral foundation that is a trademark of this great country.”
